Legend has it that St. Patrick founded his first Church on St. Patrick’s Island, just off the Skerries coast, where Chef Terry McCoy calls home. Food and cooking from St. Patrick’s time was healthy, high in energy values, and free from modern methods of preservation and extension of shelf life. With the recent movement back to shoots and roots in full swing, what better way to explore a healthy diet, inspired by the saint and
his saga, on his feast day!

It is therefore fitting that a legendary Irish Chef who is indelibly connected with Skerries is the first to create a cookery book using ingredients and methods from St. Patrick’s time in Ireland. This book is an attempt to imagine the recipes that would have been used in the 5th century as St. Patrick and his followers traversed Ireland, spreading the gospel.

Celebrating, Sourcing, Preparing, and Enjoying

Chef Terry McCoy will be in his kitchen in Skerries and invites you to be in yours cooking right along with him for a very special culinary demonstration. During the global virtual celebration you’ll see Chef McCoy on the beach foraging for fresh ingredients, in the kitchen cooking and showing how to prepare this special meal, and finally sitting down with friends to enjoy. Chef McCoy has selected the special menu to the left for the Sober St. Patrick’s Day® 10th anniversary virtual celebration, each dish with a preparation time to around 30 minutes and using fresh ingredients.

THE SAINT PATRICK SHOW

     Another Sober St. Patrick’s Day® 10th anniversary virtual celebration treat is a preview of The Saint Patrick Show, a musical and visual tale about Saint Patrick and the evolution of Ireland from ancient to modern times, performed from the home of Saint Patrick in Ireland – Downpatrick.
Highlights include iconic Irish sites with global recognition, traditional and modern Irish music and dance, storytelling and entertainment, Irish cuisine and culture.
     Post covid, a live version of the show will be performed at the home of Saint Patrick in Ireland – Downpatrick – on a multiple weekly basis in season. The live version of the show will incorporate a 3 course meal from the cookbook, "Saint Patrick’s Plate."
